How to Configure LDAP Directory Services

Express e-mail clients to fetch information from Harvard's public
directory service.

for information. This screen has four parts. In the top right-hand

which you should see options for Finger, Eudora Address Book, Ph, and
LDAP. Click on the LDAP button and then click on the New
Database... button beneath that list:
- You should now see the Modify Database dialog box on your
screen. This dialog box will contain the necessary settings for Eudora
to communicate with the LDAP directory service. Under the label of
Type the name by which you would like to refer to this server.,
enter Harvard Directory.

marked Host Name:. Enter phonebook.harvard.edu.

Eudora is set to search that database. On the bottom right-hand corner
of the Directory Services screen, you should see a list of databases.
Now, you should see an option marked Harvard Directory. If the
checkbox beside this option is not marked, click on the checkbox beside
this option to place a checkmark there. If other items are also checked,
you may want to remove those checkmarks by clicking the boxes beside
each option. Eudora is able to search more than one directory at a time,
so removing the checkboxes beside servers that you already search is
optional.

Services screen (pressing Control and the Y key together will open it
as well), then do the following:
- Click in the field beside the Query option at the top left-
hand corner of the screen. In this field, you can type in a portion

into this field. Click on the Next button to continue.
